FEATURED PROJECTS
Kitchens are my favorite spaces design, and this kitchen in a Victorian home that is over 100 years old definitely needed some love. We took it down to the studs and reinfused it with charm and character, using reclaimed terracotta on the floors and custom cabinetry and millwork throughout. For ambience, a fireplace was tucked into the cabinetry, and we added archways, raised the ceiling, and added bead board to them as well, creating a sense of grandeur that ties in with the rest of the home's aesthetic.
This project was one of my favorites, partly because the homeowners were such a joy to work with, and party because it was the first time my work was published on This Old House! This 1930's Tudor got a complete transformation, giving the homeowners the primary suite and aging-in-place features they desired. We also added heated floors and a spa shower, to help them enjoy lives little luxuries along the way. The working relationship went so well, that we were later brought in to renovate their kitchen and breakfast nook, which turned out beautifully as well.
One of my favorite things about interior design is thinking about all the fine details that make up a well designed space. In my role, I often have the opportunity to take an idea from concept to conception, and see the ideas I dreamed up come to life. This storm door I designed in a historic home in Wauwatosa is a perfect example. The chamfered details, mini turned spindles, and custom stain give it the kind of character that it make feel like it could have been there all along.
