Art Inspired Bath

The Collins' bathroom will receive a modern update with new finishes and fixtures, inspired by a 1940s oil painting by Victor Pasmore. The subject of the artwork is the Thames River, and the artist concentrated on the subtle light variations and atmosphere of the scene. The pinks, creams and blues of the painting give the sense that the sun is either rising or setting, and there is a certain quiet and peace associated with these times of day. When designing this bathroom, I plan to concentrate on those same feelings of relaxation, creating a retreat for my clients that combines soft colors, layers of lighting so they can prepare for the day and also relax during their evening beauty rituals, and then use fixtures and metal finishes to provide focal points and contrast, like the dark figures and sparkling river do.
